Current Events Presentation

Create a presentation using Google Presentation, Prezi, MovieMaker iMovie, PowerPoint, or a similar type format, etc.

Length: 1 Heading slide; 8 Content slides, 1 Reference slide = 10 Total slides

Choice #1 – Highlight a few things you’ve learned from your current events research and provide an overview about some of the recent stories making headlines over the last week or so. Choose a few (2 to 4) stories with a common theme to help you make a presentation that is cohesive.

Choice #2 – Choose one issue and present it from different perspectives. For example, choose a broad topic such as a political story that is prevalent in the news, a current environmental issue/crisis, or a current health issue/crisis. Find 2 or 3 different perspectives on your issue that you could highlight using compare/contrast in your presentation.

Grading Criteria: You will be graded according to the following rubric. Include all elements of the requirements in your presentation.

Visual Appeal: Text and background contrast; use of images is tied to information on the slide and images are not distorted; Organization of information adequately uses the space on each slide.

On-Topic: Presentation never strays to unrelated material.

Thoroughness: 1 Heading slide; 8 Content slides, 1 Reference slide = 10 Total slides

Context: Presentation contains more than just talking points and adequately covers the items presented. Includes images and video clips.

Grammar; Spelling; Usage: No typos or errors.
