Part 1

I have a young family member who has trained her cat to come running for treats by singing a specific, made up song. She sings this song and the cat has learned over time that this sound means that he is going to receive treats and he runs to his bowl. This is an example of how her cat learned through classical conditioning. (The UCS is the cat treats. Running to the bowl to get the treats is the UCR. The CS is the song and the CR is running to the bowl in response to the song.)

The learning chapter is filled with real life applications. For this discussion post, please answer the question below:

Describe an example of either classical conditioning, operant conditioning, or observational learning that has occurred in your own life. Please try to use examples that differ than those described in the chapter slides.

Be sure to describe the example and label the type of learning that occurred. You should explain why your description is an example of that type of learning.

Your original comment should answer the above comment.

Part 2

7 has helpful tips for studying. We will be using this discussion board to talk more about some of these techniques.

Based on what you have learned about encoding strategies, what empirically based study techniques will you try to incorporate more into your own study behaviors in the future? Please be clear about which study techniques you would use and why.

NOTE: Please choose at least two study techniques to answer this question.
