HIST 2320 Guide for Article Summary and Evaluation
How you should complete the assignment:
As for how to create the project itself, place the word “Summary” at the top of the page, and you should summarize the content in 3 to 4 typed, double-spaced pages. Following your summary, you should write an evaluation. Place the word “Evaluation” at the top of the section, and write an evaluation of 1 to 2 typed, double-spaced pages.
You should read the article carefully and summarize its content. For an article of this size this should take 3 to 4 pages. The pages should be typewritten, double-spaced in 12-point Times New Roman font, with one-inch margins.
After you have summarized the content you should then write an evaluation of the article. The article evaluation should be at least 1 to 2 pages in length. As with the summary, the evaluation should be typewritten, double-spaced in 12-point Times New Roman font with one-inch margins.
Some questions you should consider when writing the evaluation:
What is the subject of the article?
What is the author’s purpose in writing the article?
Does the author present facts that support his point of view?
What kind of sources has the author used in the article?
Is the article well documented?
Is there evidence of bias on the part of the author?
Did you find the article informative?
Did you find the article entertaining or interesting?
Did the article make you want to learn more about the subject?
*You are not required to use all of the questions above. You may also wish to consider some which are not listed.
