Operational improvement planning proposal
In this assessment, you will develop an operational improvement plan that enables the organisation to progress toward higher operational maturity and AI readiness through a clearly articulated responsible operations strategy. Building on the analysis completed in Assessment 1, your proposal should carry forward the prioritised performance objectives, particularly the repositioning of objectives to minimise tradeoffs, and apply them consistently throughout the improvement plan.
The audience for your report is the board of directors, operations team and other internal stakeholders. Support and justify your analysis and recommendations in each section with credible and relevant evidence from academic literature, industry sources and examples from the organisation.
Completing the activities in Modules 4-7 will prepare you for this assessment task. Your assessment will be marked according to the Assessment 2 rubric (.pdf)
Your 3,000-word operational improvement planning proposal must address the following four requirements. Each section builds directly on the analysis and repositioned operational objectives developed in Assessment 1.
Provide a concise, high-level overview of the selection operation (process or supply network) so the reader can clearly understand the strategic context being analysed.
Include an updated mind map (building on Assessment 1). Your mind map should clearly illustrate the key connections, misalignments, barriers, maturity gaps, strategic improvement path (including prioritised and aligned performance objectives), and articulate a new responsible operations strategy to demonstrate continuity from Assessment 1. This visual representation will form the foundation for the detailed analysis and recommendations that follow.
Select one of the following pathways and complete the requirements for your selected pathway. Either:
Your analysis and recommendations must be supported with the tools of analysis from Modules 4 or 5.
To do: Make a submission

If you choose this pathway:

b. Develop and include a process map to illustrate the current activities of a specific process from beginning to end (the transformation).
c. Critically analyse the alignment between process(es) and the organisation’s strategic use of technology and analytics.
d. Justify and propose (based on your analysis and evaluation) recommendations with implementation guidelines, to improve process and technology alignment.
e. Update your process map to incorporate your recommendations.

3.1 Critically analyse the operations improvement and product/service development approaches. Then develop a Strategic Perspective to continuously determine intended market position, direct operation’s resources and processes, develop operations capabilities and deploy them into the market (Module 6) or,
3.2 Critically analyse risk (failure) and resilience for your operation or supply network then develop prevention, mitigation and opportunity management strategies (Module 6) or,

This section should synthesise relevant concepts from Modules 6 or 7 and apply them to your selection operation. The focus should be on strategic direction and contribution rather than operational detail.
Prescribe the critical competencies and skills required of operations leaders to implement your recommendations and support strategic monitoring and control
Conclude with how the recommendations collectively enable and support the new responsible operations strategy and contribute to enhanced maturity and AI readiness.
This reflection should draw on relevant concepts from Module 7 and focus on strategic implications rather than operational detail.
