This prevention and treatment of opioid dependency and co-occurring disorders assignment is intended to give you some real-life experience in exploring resources for the prevention and treatment of opioid dependency and co-occurring disorders. The resources are designed to give exposure to the barriers involved in the recovery process from addiction. You will then have the opportunity to design an integrated model of care based on the information you gain.

Keep in mind the three models that are reviewed in the textbook and how they interact on behalf of individuals, families, and communities:

  • Medical Model
  • Public Health Model
  • Human Services Model

Review all the resources provided in D2L

Read, study, and review the article on an integrated model of care (also in D2L):

Read the assignment instructions below. Be prepared to research the resources for opioid recovery in a city or region that will be randomly assigned by the instructor. This assignment will require online research and likely some out-of-state phone calls. If this becomes a concern, contact the instructor.
