Please read the client and campaign info carefully. The business provides CPR/AED teaching services.

Overview

A press release is only as good as the stories journalists who see it decide to write. So it is imperative that

you, as the public relations professional, become fluent in writing convincing pitches that speak to the

needs of the journalist. Your goal for this assignment is to write a pitch to go along with a press release

that the journalist you are targeting will find helpful to their goals.

What you are creating

Your task is to write a press release about your campaign. You will then write targeted pitches to five

journalists from your Media List that you created in Week 1.

Defined Elements

Pitch – A message to a journalist highlighting the merits of a press release or other announcement for the

journalist’s consideration. Pitches should be targeted toward the beat and platform of the journalist to

whom you are pitching. They should be personal, not generic.

Instructions

Write a press release making a newsworthy announcement about your Capstone Project’s campaign.

Then, choose five journalists from your Media List that you composed in Week 1. You must write a

personalized, targeted pitch to each of them.

Note: The journalists you choose must be from different types of media outlets. For example, they all

cannot be from just trade publications or local newspapers.

Requirements

Failure to complete or adhere to any of the following requirements will result in an automatic 10-point

deduction for each unmet requirement.

The pitches must:

  • Follow the established conventions of a professionally composed pitch letter.
  • Be between 100 and 200 words in length.
  • Be free of grammatical, spelling, and style errors.
